Life Coaching - Righteousness Stops You From Taking Action

You know why you get stopped, right? You know who is stopping you, don’t you? The Drunk Monkey!!!

Your mind chatter, the talking in your head, that little voice that never shuts up, the commentators, your ego, your personality…the devil inside your head…The Drunk Monkey is Righteous. The Drunk Monkey is judgmental. The Drunk Monkey believes that your way is the right way. And what is your way? The way you are used to. The way you were conditioned to believe is right. But check this out…

If you were born in a different part of the world, your way would be different. Consider your beliefs and opinions are a function of your geography. Your perspective is a function of the circumstances of your youth. Not right or wrong, not better or worse, just your perspective.

The Drunk Monkey operates on pattern recognition. It hallucinates that familiar is safe. So what action are you not taking because it’s not familiar? Where are you stopped because it’s different? Who are you not calling because they contradict your opinion about how people are supposed to be? Give that up! Take action today! Do it.

Don’t let the monkey be your master. Don’t be the monkey’s puppet. You are the master of your life. You are the master of your thoughts. Feel the energy in your body…that’s you! That’s what makes you powerful. Not your thinking!! Your thinking is not you!!! This energy, this inspiration, this feeling of excitement and power in your body right now…that’s you…Utilize it and get in action.

Now while you are doing that. Expect synchronicity. Expect luck. Expect good fortune. Expect good things to happen to you. And when they do, celebrate it. Tell people, congratulate yourself ,and get excited. Know you are on the right path. Know that you are in the right place. Know that good stuff happens to you.

I was just having a similar conversation last night with a few of my friends and partners. Quieting those voices in your head and taking action is so key to success. Never heard it called the drunk monkey, but the concept is gold.
